An Education in Food

i have never been to a place where people are so knowledgable about their food. We were inland at a restaurant that is famous for serving mussels from a fjord nearby. but when i asked about the oysters: “oh no, you must eat those no more than a ten minutes walk from the sea..any more than that is too far away.” well, what about clams? “clams? those white things? oh no, this is not the place for those.” they are patiently trying to educate ME–the girl who grew up in HAWAII eating seafood–about the finer...

How is it I never visited Croatia before? Any country that has a gelato/dessert/bakery on practically every block is a place I want to get to know better! If you’ve been here before, I’m all ears for your suggestions on places to go. xoxA

Back On Track

I want to thank Rose de Heer and MIGHTYminnow for designing this website redo; and Dion Ogust, who captured so many moods on film…some I recognize as me, others I wonder about! And thanks always to Marie Mazur, who keeps an eye on details I’ve missed, and remembers the passwords I often forget as soon as I create them (yes, I write them down and put them in a special safe place…but only God knows where that is). Now we can get on to other projects like finalizing the cd artwork. The cd will drop in May. More on that...

Rain, redwoods and chard

The trees are delighted today, finally drinking. We’ve been desperate in California. The redwoods outside my window are reaching for the sky and my neighbor’s chard is crisp and green and gorgeous.
